Mindful Approaches to Nutritional ChangeOn this inspirational one day course you will discover simple, empowering Mindfulness techniques to help support you in all aspects of life, but particularly in making nutritional changes to support your health and happiness. By building confidence in our intuition and combining Mindfulness with techniques from the worlds of Positive Psychology and Life Coaching, we can make positive, lasting changes at a gentle pace to suit us & our lifestyles.

Morning:Nourish online reflective food diary

  • The basic tenets of Mindfulness
  • Key principles & practice of Mindful Eating
  • How to use the online photographic food diary ‘Nourish’ to support Mindful Eating
  • The importance of individuality & creativity in successful nutritional change
  • The influence of perceptions, self-talk, emotions & beliefs on our behaviour
  • Using the Soul Nutrition Happiness Calendar to enhance positivity, optimism and openness to change

Afternoon:SHIFT interactive online life coaching model

  • Simple steps & the importance of planning; Mindful Intention and Action
  • Inspiration & evidence for the unique, online life coaching model SHIFT
  • How to recognise and develop our existing strengths and self-esteem
  • Positive psychology & life coaching techniques to support positive change
  • Identifying & modifying limiting perceptions & beliefs

Please bring along a laptop or tablet so that you can participate fully in all the active learning opportunities included in the day.

The Hive WorcesterThe course assumes no previous experience of mindfulness or positive psychology. The content is suitable both for health professionals wishing to use the knowledge and practical exercises in their own clinical practice, and for anyone who is attending for their own interest and benefit. CPD certificates for professionals can be requested and will be emailed to you after the course.

Thursday 23rd October 2014 @ The Hive, Sawmill Walk, The Butts, Worcester, WR1 3PB. Time: 9.30am registration for 10am start, finishing at 4.30pm.  Price includes light refreshments during mid-morning and mid-afternoon breaks. Lunch is available to purchase in The Hive Cafe on the ground floor of the building.  Total Price for the whole day: £60 (£50 + VAT)

About the Speaker:

Katie Sheen, FdSc, DipION, mBANT, CNHC, PGCE, MA.Ed; Founder of Soul Nutrition & Astro Brain Tumour Fund

Katie SheenKatie’s private practice is based at Amaranth Health & Wellbeing Clinic in Bramhall, Cheshire, winners of the CAM Clinic of the Year 2010.  She teaches in various academic settings including the MSc Nutritional Therapy course at University of Worcester & CPD events for Lamberts Healthcare, as well as running events for practitioners and the general public on subjects related to Mindfulness and Nutritional support for a wide range of health conditions.

The award winning website Soul Nutrition (www.soulnutrition.org) brings together well-being tools that Katie developed for her Masters Degree in Education.  Each interactive element of the website provides a framework for people to explore the relationship between happiness, food & well-being whilst enhancing a mindful approach to life and enabling positive change.

Soul Nutrition donates 50% net profits to research into the potential use of the ketogenic diet as an adjunct therapy for brain cancer, to support the work of Astro Brain Tumour Fund, the charity that Katie founded in 2001.
