Don’t let the dark nights get you down…. join us for a day of Happiness! Discover simple techniques to lift your spirits, and foods to help you glow with vitality. Delicious hot lunch with dessert is included in this inspirational day, packed with practical ideas to keep you and your loved ones full of the joys of Spring even in the depths of Winter.
This one day course explores how simple ideas from the worlds of positive psychology and life coaching can be used to help us enjoy more moments of happiness in each day. Discover how to focus on your strengths, build self-esteem and flourish into the happy person that you know you can be.
We look in detail at how a wide variety of foods can be used to provide the strong physical foundations for happiness; for example which foods are known to provide the biochemical building blocks for serotonin, the ‘happy’ neurotransmitter. We also discuss common food intolerances that can influence brain chemistry, and explore how Mindful Eating can be used to identify the unique food and eating patterns that will support you and your loved ones most effectively.
A smartphone, tablet or laptop is required for you to use the online tools at www.soulnutrition.org, but we will also be referring to paper based tools that will be provided on the day. There will be no role play or compulsory participation though, as we know that that not everyone enjoys that!
The course assumes no previous knowledge of how food and eating patterns can be used to support positive mental health, nor do you need any previous experience of mindfulness or positive psychology. The content is suitable both for health professionals wishing to use the knowledge and practical exercises in their own clinical practice, and for anyone who is attending for their own interest and benefit. CPD certificates for professionals can be requested and will be emailed to you after the course.

About the Speaker:
Katie Sheen, FdSc, DipION, mBANT, CNHC, PGCE, MA.Ed; Founder of Soul Nutrition & Astro Brain Tumour Fund
Katie’s private practice is based at Amaranth Health & Wellbeing Clinic in Bramhall, Cheshire, winners of the CAM Clinic of the Year 2010. She teaches in various academic settings including the MSc Nutritional Therapy course at University of Worcester & CPD events for Lamberts Healthcare, as well as running events for practitioners and the general public on subjects related to Mindfulness and Nutritional support for a wide range of health conditions.
The award winning website Soul Nutrition (www.soulnutrition.org) brings together well-being tools that Katie developed for her Masters Degree in Education. Each interactive element of the website provides a framework for people to explore the relationship between happiness, food & well-being whilst enhancing a mindful approach to life and enabling positive change.
Soul Nutrition donates 50% net profits to research into the potential use of the ketogenic diet as an adjunct therapy for brain cancer, to support the work of Astro Brain Tumour Fund, the charity that Katie founded in 2001.
